lbōbi radio: Episode #2 of the little blog of big ideas podcast.

Episode #2 is in the can. See? Now that I am making a radio show I can say cool things like "In the can". This episode covers listener feedback and my post on Messy vs. Tidy work desks.

It was fun recording this weeks episode. I was more relaxed this time around and SLIGHTLY less non linear. I don't think I will ever be a straight to the point kind of guy but that is what's great about have Brian as the co host, he is focused like a laser on creating solid gold ear candy for you.

As we mentioned in the episode, I would love to hear back from you guys about what your virtual desktop space is like. I am much more meticulous about my computers desktop than my real desktop. Also, I want to hear your suggestions on how you are keeping track of personal images you shoot. If you are anything like me you shoot a lot and just dump them in iPhoto.

THANK YOU for listening,
Mayor Jeff

By the way, you can have this playing in the background and navigate away from this page.

I just wanted to say hi to everyone, as I am Jeff's partner in crime on the podcast. Thanks for listening, and let us know what you'd like to hear in future episodes!

I'm listening now after waiting patiently for two weeks for another episode! I'm only about 7 minutes in, and the hum on Jeff's mic is already starting to bother me a little. It stops as soon as Brian starts talking.

Yeah, I hear that hum. I am thinking my mic is picking up the fan in my computer.

Collin thanks for pointing that out.
I listened through it again and for some reason the hum goes away after a while.

hrrrm
Something else for me to figure out.

Not the hum! Aargh!

There was definitely some background noise picked up by the mic, and I suspect it was the fan. When the fan kicked into high gear, that's where you can really hear it.

Jeff and i are still playing around with the audio. The track you hear in this episode is Jeff's locally recorded track, as opposed to the Skype recording. In some ways the quality is better, as he doesn't sound so far away, but then there's the mic hum to contend with. If we use the Skype track, he sounds a little farther away. We'll just have to figure out which is easier to live with for the listeners.

I have tried to get Jeff to fly me down every two weeks so we don't need to use Skype, but he keeps making excuses, citing airfare costs, etc.

Brian, I will look into bus fare. I am sure a two day bus ride would be awesome fun. Think of all the interesting people you could meet. It could be a wonderous adventure every two weeks.

It already is a wonderous adventure whenever we record.

I am glad there are already 8 comments to the radio show. It must mean people like it. Right?

Or is this a case of the Monster at the End of the book?

Hello all. I've crossed over from the Secret Id boards (Torchbearer) thanks to Brian's cross promotion of lbobi on the SI podcast. I work as a Graphic Designer and am coming up on my 12th year in the field and at the same job.

I hear the hum when Jeff is speaking but it isn't all that annoying to me. In fact until I read this thread I really didn't even notice it. Then again there is an active train trestle right next the my office so I'm pretty used to a ton of ambient noise.

I'd like to make a suggestion as to the site if you don't mind: It might be helpful if there were a more expansive area for information in each person's profile where they may enter more info about what they do, where they're located etc. I think this might help when it comes to any networking and collaborating that may potentially arise. Obviously it would be optional, but if you can click on a person's profile and know what their particular expertise are then you would have an idea of what kind of a resource that person can be. Just a thought.

Josh! Hey man thanks for coming over!

I have been talking to Six Apart (the creators of moveable type and motion) about expanding the bio profile area.
Good suggestion.

That was AWESOME- that is all I can come up with just AWESOME!

Thank you Kristin! You are my new favorite lbobian. : )
