Jesse Schell: The future is a game
This video is 28 minutes long but genuinely worth watching. Carnegie Mellon University Professor, Jesse Schell, postulates on the future of gaming and how experience based points will drive consumer behavior. Will life will be one giant MMO (massively multiplayer online game)? The future will be quite interesting.

One of the most intriguing videos I've watched in a long time. So many people who talk about this are so focues on HOW you'll play the games, will they be like the Wii, or "standard" controllers like a 360 or PS3, will you have glasses for virtual reality, etc etc etc.
I think it's really interesting that some one would come at it from an approach of how people want "authenticity" and the practical applications, if you will, of that desire. I dont know how you can go through life in our culture without knowing people are wanting authenticity (it's all over the place), but to see that desire played out in "video games" that ARE our life is kind of overwhelming. Especially his last part, that it may not be the "end of our civilization," but that it could be a boost.
Great find!
Thanks Austin! I have actually watched it twice now. Extremely interesting.
I brushed by teeth 7 times this morning and got a new record! 24000 points! :)
Incidentally, you also brushed off the outer 2 layers of your teeth, -21000 points.
Dang! That's why it hurts when I drink cold things?
