Apple's Time Capsule 2TB

I'm looking to purchase another external HD for backing up image files, etc.  I currently have a Western Digital MyBook that is 2TB.  Has anyone used Apple's Time Capsule?  Curious as to how reliable it would be.  Would like to keep my storage solutions in the Mac family if possible (even though we have an adopted Western Digital member).

Thanks,

Clark

I just recently bought a 1Tb TC for Christmas to go along with my MacBook and I love it so far. I haven't been using it long, but it has great range, it is super easy to set up a network with it, and it is very fast. It also works well with PCs. I definitely reccomend it.

iWant an Apple Time Capsule. But, alas, I am but a poor shepherd boy.

The big deal about time capsule is that its a wireless backup?

We use an Apple Time Capsule in our church office (which is powered entirely by Apple Products) and we love it. Since it's BOTH a wireless router and an external hard drive for backups there are a couple features we find to be most valuable:

First is the Dual Band WiFi that is also equipped with a Guest network. This increased our range throughout the office and produced a better signal in some of the darker corners where WiFi was until the Time Capsule, nearly nonexistent. The Guest network is ESPECIALLY nice. It allowed us to create a network that all staff members could access and open up our sharing options while offering our church members and visitors their own network to join freely. Our shared files are still protected on our individual stations and everyone in the building can enjoy WiFi on their device. I see this being a perk for studios to offer their clients Free WiFi in a time where more and more mobile phones and hand-held devices make use of it.

Second would be the Time Machine backups. The TC works very well in keeping multiple machines backed up and is easily accessible. Running Time Machine, you'll find you can wirelessly access the TC and its response is quick as you navigate through Finder data.

All in all, we are very pleased with it and I am about to purchase one for my home/home office. Hope our good experience is shared by others!

Chris, that's a great real life example. I was actually unaware that it had wifi.

Thanks for all the great info! Figured this would be the best place to get good feedback on this particular product. lbobi is awesome! Time to go visit the Apple web site now.

It isn't wireless... but it is awesome. I have a Welland dock - that you plug hard drives into. I buy 1Tb / 2TB drives and plug them in. It is was easy as docking an iphone. You literally plug.. and use them, remove and insert another. easy peasy back up. We have about 6 drives in play for back up offsite at two locations, and throw them in and out of the dock as needed. I also have 4 drives in the macpro... system works for PC or Mac.. Dock was about $50. Drives are about $100 here in Aust. :)

Hey Guys! Great info... I am very interested in getting some backup for my home studio and the Time Capsule seems to be a great match for me but some of the reviews on the apple website scare me (just one bad review is enough to scare me). There are reviews saying that their TC only lasted for 18 months or less. I do plan to link it to another external hard drive for extra backup, but what do you guys think about the poor reviews or should I be looking to invest in something better for studio?
