Makeup & skincare tips for great photos!

Hi Photographers, Artists, and other Right-brainers!

I am a makeup artist, organizer and concierge with a background in Fine Arts.

Writing with a few tips on how to look beautiful (or handsome) in pictures in regards to our faces.

My first two tips involve women AND men:

- SKIN- pay attention to your water intake the week before a shoot- meaning up it!    Also, give yourself a facial a good week out as well with products you trust for your skin- scrub, mask, steam, etc.  Light scrub the day before helps makeup go on smoother.

- EYEBROWS- groom the day before so redness can calm. Brows are the frame of the face!  Very important! Guys all you need to do is trim a bit and brush, girls get them shaped/waxed or do yourself.

A few extras for the ladies:

- Take a few extra minutes to cover redness/blemishes with a foundation perfectly matched for your skin type.  Don't over-do it (editing can help with stubborn blemishes), and do your makeup in the lighting your photographer will be shooting.  Also, primers will help with smooth coverage and perspiration.  They make them for skin, eyes, and lips.

- For a focus on your eyes- use the opposite color of your eyes to bring out eye color (ie, if your eyes are green, go with purple or burgandy, blue eyes look great with golds/browns, etc).  Brown-eyed girls, I'm jealous- your options are endless!!!

- Don't forget blush!!! A little extra color on the cheeks keeps you looking youthful and prevents a washed-out look on camera.

- Keep it natural with a step up!  Hiring a makeup artist is always an easy way to make sure you look your best in photos you will keep for many years to come!
